Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei Met with Penang State Executive Councillor Soon Lip Chee
2020/10/09

On September 29, 2020, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei met with the delegation of Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) and the delegation of the representatives of the Penang State Democratic Action Party (DAP) both led by Penang State Executive Councillor Soon Lip Chee in the Consulate General office. The two sides exchanged views on China-Malaysia friendship, local-level exchanges, youth exchanges, etc.

During the meeting with PYDC, Consul General Lu Shiwei said that he is pleased to see that Executive Councillor Soon Lip Chee led the Penang Friendly Exchange Delegation to visit Anhui province, China last year, and reached a number of intentions of cooperation with relevant organizations of Anhui, in which some intentions are currently implemented in smooth progress. We hope that both sides work hard together to consolidate the achievements already made, and make new breakthroughs in the fields of youth, education, science and technology, culture, etc., especially to create more opportunities for the exchanges between young people of the two countries and localities, so that the China-Malaysia friendship will be passed on from generation to generation.

During the meeting with representatives of the Penang State DAP, Consul General Lu Shiwei said that the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is coming in two days. The group visit of the representatives of the Penang State DAP shows that DAP attaches great importance to the friendly relationship between both sides. On behalf of the Chinese Consulate General, I wish everyone a happy holiday, and thank all of you for your long-term contributions to China-Malaysia friendship and local exchanges. Consul General Lu Shiwei made detailed introduction of the achievements made by China in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the development of international anti-epidemic cooperation. He said that under the leadership of the state government, Penang has achieved positive results in the epidemic prevention and control. He hoped that both sides will focus on the post-pandemic era, and continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, people-to-people exchanges etc. between relevant provinces and cities in China and Penang.

Soon Lip Chee and the other delegation members extended their holiday greetings and blessings to Chinese Consulate General, and expressed their respects for China’s powerful measures and remarkable results in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. They looked forward to the ending of the pandemic soon, the restoration of people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia as soon as possible, and the continuous progress in the exchanges and cooperation between both sides in various fields.
