On July 19, 2022, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei met with Ms. Su Zhan, the Manager of Zhejiang Yuhua Timber Co., Ltd. and her delegation.

Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei expressed welcome to Ms. Su Zhan and her delegation, and made an introduction of the consular district in Northern Malaysia, the investment environment of Kedah, and the roles and responsibilities of Chinese Consulate General in Penang. Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei approved of the decision made by Zhejiang Yuhua Timber Co., Ltd. to invest and set up factory in Kedah, Malaysia, and implement the “go global” strategy of state-owned enterprises and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He regarded the company as a true participant and contributor in promoting the pragmatic cooperation between China and Malaysia. Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei suggested that the company should strengthen communication and maintain good relations with the local government and all circles of the local society, establish ties with the Malaysia Chinese Enterprises Association North Malaysia Branch, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with other Chinese enterprises in the consular district, actively fulfill social responsibilities, and create a good image of Chinese enterprises. Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei said that the Consulate General will provide active support and assistance for the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises in Kedah and also in the consular district of Northern Malaysia, and will provide necessary consular protection and services for Chinese citizens in the consular district.

Ms. Su Zhan introduced the situation and development plans of Zhejiang Yuhua Timber Co., Ltd., Evergreen Wood Industry Sdn. Bhd., and Global Fine Wood Sdn. Bhd. She thanked Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei for his introduction and support, and expressed that they will implement the suggestions of the Consulate General, ensure good production and operation of the enterprises, and enhance the integration of the enterprise’s development with the national development of China and also with China-Malaysia cooperation, so as to contribute to the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia and also between the localities of the two countries.

Zhejiang Yuhua Timber Co., Ltd. was established in the early 1990s. It is one of the first enterprises in China to produce and develop multi-layer solid wood flooring, the largest multi-layer solid wood flooring manufacturer in China, and is the only Chinese wood flooring producer that received zero percent rates both in the investigations for anti-dumping and anti-subsidy by the U.S. Its products are sold to overseas markets such as the U.S., Europe, and Japan, ranking first in the export volume of multi-layer solid wood flooring in China for 10 consecutive years.
