On May 25, 2022, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei met with the General Manager of China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and Principal Officer of China Construction Bank Corporation Labuan Branch, Mr. Wang QiJie and his delegation.

Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei welcomed Mr. Wang QiJie and his delegation, and introduced the economic development of the four states in Northern Malaysia and the situation of Chinese enterprises’ operations in the consular district, as well as China-Malaysia relations and the functions of Chinese Consulate General in Penang. He said that the potentials of the economic development and investment in the consular district is huge. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a slowdown of investment by the Chinese enterprises in Malaysia, their investment has never been stopped. With the stabilization of the pandemic situation in Malaysia and the full opening of its borders, more and more Chinese enterprises have been inquiring about investing in Malaysia or speeding up their process of project implementation. Chinese Consulate General in Penang supports China Construction Bank and its branches to expand their businesses in Northern Malaysia and also supports the Chinese enterprises in the consular district to realize business development and make greater contributions to the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and pragmatic cooperation between China and Malaysia.

Mr. Wang QiJie introduced China Construction Bank’s business development in Malaysia, thanked Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei for his briefings and support, and said that he would actively promote the development of business in Northern Malaysia, provide services to enterprises, serve the Belt and Road cooperation, and promote China-Malaysia trade and economic cooperation.
