As released by the Penang WCIT 2022 official website, the 26th edition of World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2022) will be held at Setia SPICE Convention Centre from September 13 to 15. The event is jointly organized by the Penang State Government, the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), and the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). The event is held both online and offline, and is expected to attract the participation of more than 4,000 representatives from more than 80 countries.

WCIT 2022 is known as the Olympics of the world’s information technology industry. The theme of this year’s event is “Connecting and Transforming the World”. More than 100 panel sessions are planned, focusing on startups, unicorns, venture trends, and robust business matching. This global technology business event covers cutting-edge technologies in various fields such as cybersecurity, healthcare, education, data and information, smart cities, etc. It plans to invite business leaders and technology professionals to share and exchange views on globally strategical issues in the fields of technological innovations such as declining economic growth, resources depletion, climate threats, shortages in food, cybersecurity, etc.

WCIT 2022-related events include the Penang TechFest which will be taking place from September 8 to 18, which will set up a technology concept-themed exhibition area featuring 5G zone with autonomous vehicle testing, street eSports, HealthTech, smart cities, SpaceTech, and multiverse.
