On October 25, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Zhou Youbin paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Chow Kon Yeow. Penang State Assemblyman Mr. Teh Lai Heng and Chinese Consul Mr. Li Jie were also present.

    Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin expressed his appreciation to the Penang State Government for the thoughtful arrangements for his arrival, and said that China-Malaysia relations have continued to develop in a healthy and stable manner, and the Belt and Road cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The State of Penang has benefited a lot from the joint construction of BRI between China and Malaysia. Penang has kept deepening cooperation with relevant Chinese provinces and cities in the fields of economy, trade, investment, people-to-people exchanges, etc., and has achieved remarkable results.     Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin made an introduction of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He said that this is a meeting of great importance. It takes place at a critical time as China embarks on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects and advances toward the Second Centenary Goal. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important report at the congress and mapped out a blueprint for China’ development for the next five years and beyond. The new central leadership collective with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core was elected. We believe that the various strategic arrangements made at the 20th CPC National Congress will play a very important leading and promoting role in making China a modern socialist country in all aspects and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts. China will open its door ever wider. China’s development will certainly provide broader development opportunities for countries around the world, including Malaysia.

    Chief Minister Mr. Chow Kon Yeow welcomed Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin, and is willing to provide convenience and support to Consul General Zhou for performing his duties and to the work of Chinese Consulate General in Penang. He also said that the northern region of Malaysia has relevantly high development potentials, and more and more Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest in Penang. He expressed warm congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, which has attracted worldwide attention, and indicated that Malaysia is about to hold the 15th General Election.
