On June 30, 2022, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei attended the swearing-in ceremony of new directors of Penang Lim Si Teong How Tong and Persekutuan Persatuan Keturunan Lim Pulau Pinang and delivered a speech. Nearly 100 people including the representative of the Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, State Legislative Assemblywoman Madam Lim Siew Khim, President of Penang Lim Si Teong How Tong and Persekutuan Persatuan Keturunan Lim Pulau Pinang Mr. Lim Gait Tong, council members, clan members, and media representatives attended the event.

In his speech, Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei expressed his appreciation for the work and achievements of Penang Lim Si Teong How Tong and Persekutuan Persatuan Keturunan Lim Pulau Pinang, especially the positive contributions made by Mr. Lim Gait Tong in the promotion of China-Malaysia friendship and China-ASEAN cooperation. He expressed his expectation that the Lin clan members will continue to play the active role of “civilian ambassadors” to promote economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two sides, as well as promoting people-to-people bonds. Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei welcome all the clan members to visit China after the pandemic situation improves. The Consulate General of China in Penang is willing to work with everyone and people from all walks of life in the consular district to make new contributions to the promotion of friendship between China and Malaysia at the national and local level. 

At the event, Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei, together with other invited guests, witnessed the swearing-in of new directors of Penang Lim Si Teong How Tong and Persekutuan Persatuan Keturunan Lim Pulau Pinang.
