On December 26, 2021, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei attended the opening ceremony of the Penang Chinese Clan Council (PCCC) Representative Assembly and delivered a speech. Nearly 130 people including Mr. Teh Lai Heng on behalf of Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Chow Kon Yeow, Datuk Ang Cho Teing, Chairman of the PCCC, committee members and representatives of the PCCC, etc. participated in the event.

Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei spoke highly of the PCCC’s efforts to host the Penang Chinese New Year Celebration (Miaohui), Meng Eng Soo Open Day, and other socially influential Chinese traditional cultural activities for many years. He also appreciated PCCC’s excellent work on organizing the Belt and Road and Cultural Exchanges Youth Forum and other thematic activities to inherit and promote Chinese culture and make positive contributions to the promotion of China-Malaysia friendship and exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei stated that the year 2021 is a year of milestone significance for China. We celebrated the centennial of the Communist Party of China (CPC), realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and is marching toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. Looking back on the endeavors over the past century, a solidified and united Chinese nation is the shared root of Chinese people both at home and abroad. The profound Chinese culture is our shared soul, and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is our shared dream. To realize national rejuvenation, all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation always stand together to jointly compose a magnificent chapter of great unity and great union. Looking forward to the future, as long as we continue to unite all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, both at home and abroad, to build consensus and bring together the strength of the whole Chinese nation, the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will surely be realized!

Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei expressed that he expected the PCCC to continue to play the role as a bridge and link to strengthen the connection between the overseas Chinese in Malaysia with China and their ancestral hometowns in China, especially after the situation of the pandemic has stabilized, organize more exchange activities, and make new contributions to the promotion of China-Malaysia friendly relations.
