Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei Attended the Swearing-in Ceremony of New Directors of Lim’s Three Institutions

    On November 7, 2020, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei attended the swearing-in ceremony of new directors of the Northern Malaysia Lim Clansmen Liaison Committee, Persekutuan Persatuan Keturunan Lim Pulau Pinang, and Penang Lim Si Teong How Tong, and delivered a speech. More than 150 people including Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Chow Kon Yeow, Chairman of World Lin’s Association (WLA) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lim Gait Tong, President of the Federation of Malaysia Lim Associations (FMLA) Tan Sri Lim Hock San, Chairman of Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) Dato’ Seri Khor Teng How attended the ceremony.

    Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei spoke highly of the tremendous work done by the three Lim’s institutions in the areas of promoting the development of Penang and Malaysia, inheriting Chinese culture, supporting the economic development of the ancestral home country, and promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysiaas. As the oldest organizations based on blood ties in the Chinese community of Penang, the three Lim’s institutions have achieved fruitful results in all these years.

    Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei briefly introduced the domestic situation in China, and said that the Chinese economy has achieved positive growth in the first three quarters this year, demonstrating strong resilience and vigorous vitality. As a close neighbor and important partner of China, Malaysia has the advantage to draw energy and seize opportunities from China’s new development pattern. China is willing to work with Malaysian friends from all walks of life to deepen cooperation in various fields. Chinese Consulate General in Penang will continue to support the activities of friends from all walks of life in the consular district, and jointly promote friendly cooperation between China and Malaysia.

    In his speech, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lim Gait Tong called on everyone to strengthen cooperation with China, forge ahead in unity, and overcome difficulties together in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
