Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei met with Penang State Executive Councillor Soon Lip Chee

On December 30, 2020, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Lu Shiwei met with a delegation led by Penang State Executive Councillor Soon Lip Chee at the Consulate General, and exchanged views on local exchanges, youth exchanges etc. between China and Malaysia.

Consul General Lu Shiwei expressed his welcome for Mr. Soon Lip Chee and his delegation’s visit before the new year, and wished them a happy new year on behalf of Chinese Consulate General. Consul General Lu Shiwei said that in the outgoing year 2020, China and Malaysia helped each other in the fight against the pandemic, and the bilateral relations witnessed new development. By means of online and offline integration, the local exchanges between the sides have kept a good momentum. We are happy to see Anhui province and Penang state signed a letter of intent to establish friendly inter-provincial relations, and the youth exchanges and cooperation also achieved new results. In the post-COVID-19 era, the Consulate General would like to work closely with the Penang state government and aim for earlier preparation for the promotion of the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields such as youth, education, science and technology, culture, etc. in order to harvest more results.

Mr. Soon Lip Chee thanked the Consulate General for its support of the activities organized by Penang state, and extended festive greetings and blessings to the Consulate General. He expects the very soon ending of the COVID-19 pandemic, and look forward to promoting more exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
